The Russian Assignment
Our Calling/Assignments– Regarding Russia:
Our involvements with Russian Speaking Peoples has seen three distinct yet significantly overlapping phases. Prior to these phases, several members from our congregation started going on short-term mission trips to Russia. The Soviet Union had recently disbanded and doors were opening for ministry in those nations.
Phase One: This phase began in 1996 and was completed in 2007. Randy Clark held a renewal meeting in Knoxville in the spring of 1996. As a part of that series of meetings, Randy read what is known as the Hudson Taylor Vision. It has been reported that on one of his furloughs to England in 1855, Hudson Taylor was preaching when he suddenly stopped. He stood speechless for a time with his eyes closed. When he began to speak he then stopped for a second time. He then explained that he had seen a vision twice. He stated, “I have seen a vision. I saw in this vision a great war that will encompass the whole world. I saw this war recess and then start again, actually being two wars. After this, I saw much unrest and revolts that will affect many nations. I saw in some places spiritual awakenings. In Russia, I saw there will come a general all-encompassing, national SPIRITUAL AWAKENING so great that there could never be another like it. From Russia, I saw the awakening spread to many European countries. Then I saw an all-out awakening, followed by the Coming of Christ “ Pastor Russ was captured by this prophetic experience and agreed to go to Russia with Randy Clark a few weeks later. Through an incredible series of events, New Covenant Fellowship was moved to begin visiting Russia. The goals were to share Christ and to impart the outpouring from Toronto to Russians all over the country. In 2007 that first phase came to completion. We visited multiple cities and towns from nearly 30 administrative sistricts. We visited a number of cities multiple times. We experienced many open doors. We formed many new friendships. It was a wonderful time. NCF concentrated on the Far East of Russia and the Eastern half of Siberia. We also visited many cities in western Russia during those years. We made several trips to Ukraine and other nations of the former Soviet Union. We were helping to equip Russian speaking people for their sovereign end-time calling. We will never forget those years.
Phase Two: Pastor Russ came to realize how beneficial a video dramatization of the Hudson Taylor Vision would be. A whole series of events transpired that involved learning the fundamentals of videography, acquiring equipment, connecting with expert assistance, research, and various personnel. A great provision came in 2004 when we were granted a living room interview with the prophet Bob Jones. He detailed on film the things God had shown him, through the years, about Russia and its prophetic calling. We received an invitation, In the Fall of 2005, to attend a 2006 conference in Kiev. We presented more than 1100 copies of a Russian and English DVD with multiple documentaries on the prophetic callings on Russian speaking peoples. Phase Three: As stated above, 5 different documentaries were produced from 2002-2006. During the research phase of the project,Pastor Russ came across extensive information about a very famous and highly respected Russian Orthodox Priest named St. Seraphim of Sarov. Among his many very famous prophecies, he predicted he would eventually rise from the dead and proclaim global repentance for a short span of time. He also stated that his resurrection would spark the final end-time spiritual awakening in Russia and influence the entire world for Christ. At that time, Pastor Russ chose to set aside the prophetic information concerning St. Seraphim’s resurrection because of its unusual and potentially controversial nature. However, through undeniable events, Pastor Russ was impressed to intercede for the fulfillment of this initiating resurrection event.”
For NCF, the recognition of the Russian Assignment calling is a 35-year journey. God has been preparing us to fulfill our forerunner calling regarding Russia.
